Argyle's Head Coach is hoping that two players could arrive before Monday at 2pm's transfer deadline. Conversely, he squashed the rumours of a return to Home Park for former central defender and fans favourite, Dan Scarr, who has been released by Wrexham. "That one has got no legs,"he said. He also confirmed that Welsh international midfielder, Joe Morrell, who is currently without a club, had trained with the Argyle squad but that:"we didn't end up progressing [it]."

The 17-year-old, one of the shining lights of Argyle's academy, has been a regular feature in Tom Cleverley's squad this season. He made his professional debut while still a scholar, away at Leeds United, and has since made seven further first-team appearances. There had been speculation of interest from a number of Premier League sides so the Argyle Head Coach is thrilled to have secured Finn's future: "Tegan was someone I was aware of before I joined the club. Wayne (Rooney) spoke very highly of him and obviously gave him his debut as well. "Since I've been at the club, I have seen the talent he has at his disposal first hand, and it is brilliant news for the football club that one of our key Academy products has decided to stay. "There's been lots of speculation around his future, and it's not surprising because he is a very talented footballer, but it is a credit to the pathway we have at the football club that he sees his future with Argyle." First-team coach Kevin Nancekivell added: "Tegan is someone who has been with the football club since the age of six and progressed all the way through the Academy. "I have seen first-hand his development over the years and the hard work that has got him to this point. That doesn't stop now though, and he needs to work harder than ever to continue his growth and impact the first team. "It is a testament to all the staff at the Academy for helping him get to this point but also a testament to Tegan himself and I look forward to working closely with him as he continues to develop over the coming years."

Cleverley told Plymouth Live: "I think it's a case of we had to walk before we could run. I was never expecting that first win to be a four, five-nil demolition job. Blackpool are a good side. "There was a lot of pressure on that game that we got that first win, and I thought it was well deserved. First half probably just shaded it, second half certainly deserved the goal and I thought the players managed the game excellently. "In the last 20 minutes we looked like a team who knew how to win. We managed the tempo, we managed it with counter attacks, we managed it with doing the basics really well, and the impact of the substitutes. "There is a lot of people that will take confidence from that. "...we showed a nice balance of taking risk as well as keeping control and that's what we want to be about. It's a really pleasing performance."
Palsson, who came through the Liverpool Academy, joined Argyle in the summer of 2024 and went on to make 31 appearances in Green. Palsson said: "I'm really grateful for my time at Plymouth Argyle and to those who gave me the chance to play in English football again. "It was short, and didn't go how I, or anyone, had hoped, but I'm thankful for the opportunity." "I wish the club, the players, the staff and everyone involved with Argyle nothing but the best moving forward. To the Green Army (who had often targeted Palsson in unflattering terms) he added:: "we're all just humans doing our best. Your support means more than you know. "Thank you and all the best for the future."
The 25-year-old started her career with Norwich City, before joining the Royal Navy, during which two years she was deployed around the world, with a small spell for Welsh side Llanelli Town along the way. Head Coach Marie Hourihan says: "Eilish adds some much-needed depth to our squad and some healthy competition amongst goalkeepers. She will be important to us throughout the year if we want to succeed, so we are delighted to have her here at Home Park."

The Swiss youth international started his journey at FC Sion, before a move to Brighton's youth teams. He was prolific for their U18s and U23s but was released at the end of his contract. He joined Aldershot Town where he scored 21 goals in 48 games .This earned him a move to Vale, where he scored 16 goals in his debut season to help them to League Two promotion. Argyle Head Coach Tom Cleverley is delighted to bring Tolaj to the club, commenting: "Lorent is someone who has had a monumental rise up the footballing pyramid and we are thrilled that he has chosen Argyle as the next step on that journey. "Wherever he has been he has shown he is a proven goal scorer, with an incredible record at every club and we are confident he will translate that to an Argyle shirt. "I've been vocal throughout the window that we wanted the right number nine in the building, and although it has taken longer than we all would have hoped, I couldn't be happier that we have managed to bring Lorent to the club."
Fineline Group appeared on the Argyle shirt as Carabao Cup sleeve sponsor last campaign, and now extend their partnership further. 21st
Mathias becomes Argyle's 12th summer signing and will wear the number 2 shirt. Head Coach, Tom Cleverley, commented: "I am delighted we have managed to strengthen our defensive options with our second signing of the week. "Mathias joins with excellent pedigree having played plenty of games at a high level, considering he is still only 24. "He will complement our squad perfectly and challenge our current defenders for a place in the team. I want to welcome him to Argyle and look forward to seeing him in action very soon." According to Tom Cleverley, 'very soon' could mean two weeks as the new recruit has been training alone since the start of July and needs now to train with his team-mates to improve his fitness.

Mitchell's career began at Millwall. During his four years at The Den he had valuable loan spells at Bromley, Leyton Orient, St Johnstone and Lincoln City. The 23-year-old joined Charlton last summer and went on to make 31 league appearances, scoring two goals, as The Addicks gained promotion through the Sky Bet League One play-offs. A delighted Tom Cleverley said: "It is no secret that we have been looking to add defensive options and in Alex we feel we have the perfect addition. "He is young but has good experience of League One and played an integral part in Charlton's promotion last season, so brings with him experience of consistently winning. "We are really pleased to bring him to the club, and he will go straight into the squad for tomorrow's game." Mitchell will wear the no 15 shirt.
At a press conference, Cleverley said: "There has been developments (on the recruitment of another forward). Obviously other clubs are involved so I can't say, but I certainly feel a lot more optimistic this morning than I did before the Lincoln game about a striker being with us sooner rather than later."

Experienced midfielder Noble joins the Pilgrims after spells with Oxford United, Crystal Palace and Blackburn. The 25-year-old progressed through the Oxford pathway before departing for Women's Super League 2 side Crystal Palace in 2022. Dalton, also a midfielder, comes in after a successful trial period during pre-season, during which she featured in many games and scored one goal. She most recently played for Derby County, but prior to the spell with the Rams, she played for Birmingham City, Burnley, and the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. In her youth career, she also had several call-ups to England Under-18s squads. Argyle Head Coach Marie Hourihan said: "Ellie joins us with a wealth of Championship experience with Blackburn Rovers last season and will add real composure in the middle of the park. "A technically gifted midfielder, she offers both control and leadership, and we're excited to see the impact she'll have on and off the pitch. "Paris is an experienced midfield player with very good technical ability and impressed us with her performances in pre-season. Her attacking flair and versatility will add real depth to our midfield."

Olivia started her career at Pontypridd FC before two seasons with United Under-21s and a dual-registration spell with Liverpool Feds. She has been a part of the Wales youth set-up for several years, from under-13s, and has captained her country on multiple occasions. Head Coach Marie Hourihan said: "Olivia is an exciting signing for us and we're very happy to have her down here at Home Park. She's a pacy and attacking-minded player who will give us an edge going forward. "Her experience for the Wales youth sides, in academy football at Manchester United, and in women's football already, is a huge thing, and I can't wait to see her grow as a player in green." 14th
During her four years in the USA, Wilson featured 77 times for the Flames, scoring one goal and adding seven assists from the backline, and was named to the D2CCA South Region First Team and First Team All-Gulf South Conference in her final season. Prior to her time in the States, she began her career at Middlesbrough FC, working her way through the system to the first-team. Head Coach Marie Hourihan said: "We're delighted to secure the signing of Katie. "She's a confident ball-playing defender who adds great quality to our left side, and I'm sure will succeed this season." Christian Kent, Executive Lead for Women's Football at Argyle, said: "Katie is going to be a great addition to our squad here at Home Park, and we're extremely happy to get the signing completed."
"The hard work is going on behind the scenes. "We're in that no man's land of the window - the majority on the business gets done really early or in the last week and we're in that no man's land where itl;s a bit of a stalemate between clubs." On the club's search for a central defender Cleverley added: "It's really tough. A lot of things need to align, if you've not got the money to blow everyone in the league out of the water, so it is how it is. "I don't want to go into too much detail because I'd be revealing other clubs' issues or players', but there's more than just geographical and financial issues when trying to do these deals and we're suffering a couple of those challenges at the minute."

Cleverley said: "Things are developing, we are trying our best. I think the two positions we are prioritising are still the priorities. We are really trying to get a defender in for the weekend. "I will always have the strategy of don't just bring someone in for the sake of it... We want to make sure they are the right ones but we know we really have to work hard to get them in because we are super low on numbers." He added: "It is difficult. We are going through obstacles that we weren't a few weeks ago - geographical, financial. You can see the clubs who are prepared to lose money and they are taking risks by really having a go. "We have to get creative. We might have to look in the loan market, but these things do open up in the last couple of weeks (of the summer transfer window) where players realise 'I have not got a chance here of playing' or Premier League loans become more available. "I don't like this word but we are desperate at the minute because of our injury list. We are working hard to bring two bodies in as soon as possible but they can't just be for the sake of it. "It's challenging, but we are working really hard. "Okay, tonight (against QPR) has been a really pleasing performance but you can see on Saturday we need to improve and we need to add more depth, and in those key areas."
The defender joined the Greens, having most recently played for Reading in the now Women's Super League 2, at the start of last season, and went on to feature 25 times for Argyle. "I'm very excited to be back," Smith told Argyle TV. "I think there's some unfinished business from last year, so I'm buzzing to get going. "I came in on my first day, spoke to Marie, and instantly gravitated towards coming back. Everything is so positive in the way that she's speaking about this year, and how excited she is, makes me excited as well to come back and see what we can do. "Home Park is probably one of the best stadiums that I have played at. The grass is unbelievable and so nice and crisp to play on. Last year, it was a real privilege to get to play here. "We went in with high expectations last season, but I don't quite think we fulfilled our potential. In the league, we want to come back this year and do much better, and I think with the team we've got now and Marie coming in, that's something we can definitely do." 12th

It means Argyle have no points from their opening two games, following a defeat to Barnsley last weekend that followed a startlingly similar pattern. "I think there are things to learn from both defeats," said Argyle Head Coach Tom Cleverley. "I thought last week we didn't show personality. We took a backward step. "Today, I couldn't say we took a backward step, but we certainly didn't take a forward one and really try to threaten their goal. "The goal completely knocked us out of our stride last week, and the same's happened again today. We looked flat, we looked a little bit short of ideas; quite a lot of control and possession, but we never want to be that team that doesn't end up with a purpose. "I need to address the mentality. There looked a little bit of an acceptance of defeat today. That comes from two years of treading water, and defeat being the most common result that this group suffered. Maybe [it was] the first signs of the hangover of relegation, and the mentality. "We need to address that quickly, and that'll start with all of us going through an internal reflection of the last two results, and work hard. Work harder. "There's one positive we can take out of today, is a bit more competition for places. "After last week's defeat, our squad being so thin, we could only make one change. Steven made five. "We have to get out of this acceptance of defeat," said Cleverley. "We have to change the mentality. We are up against a strong opposition, but we're at home. We need to give those fans something back for our first two performances. Every chance you have to step over that white line, it's a chance to impress; you're playing for your livelihood. "We need to stop being so affected by setbacks. In 46 games, you're going to concede goals, you're going to suffer setbacks. "There'll be a lot of learning from the last two games. The key to that is changing and that needs to start as soon as possible." 9th

Head Coach Jamie Lowry said: "Saturday was disappointing, and there are some things we've got to fix quickly and improve on the little good moments going forward. Ultimately, we didn't take care of the ball enough and turned it over too easily. "We need to dust ourselves down and go again. It's just the first game, but it's a big learning curve, and we need to start learning things quickly and improving." Argyle: 1 Jack Flower, 2 Toby Haley, 3 Joe Mwaro (12 Toby Maclean, 72), 4 Billy Devlin (14 Tashall Sandhu, 46), 5 Lewis Flowers, 6 Sam Hayman, 7 Fletcher Poole, 8 Sam Lord (capt), 9 Frankie Maund, 10 Seb Campbell, 11 Jared Rendle (15 Kian Burch, 72). He told Plymouth Live that he was: "Hugely grateful for the support. I really do have the feeling that I'm the head coach of a big football club when I see that. A passionate football club and that makes me very proud. "It was as good as everyone has been telling me. We felt them sucking that ball into the Devonport End at two-one down, but I will have a lot of regrets that I couldn't have made it a more memorable occasion for us."
The statement read: "Following Saturday's game against Barnsley, midfielder Brendan Wiredu received a torrent of abuse from Argyle fans both publicly and privately that caused him to deactivate his social media accounts. This behaviour is not acceptable to any player, staff member or supporter and does not embody the One Argyle ethos we live by every day throughout the football club. Brendan spoke openly ahead of his debut about his excitement to play in front of the Green Army for the first time and moving forward we hope Argyle fans show him the incredible support he deserves as he is an integral part of our squad. Everyone at the club is fully supporting Brendan during this time and we want to remind supporters that the standards we set online are equally important inside Home Park. We will be making no further comment. 3rd
"We prepared so hard for this occasion, six weeks of real graft from everyone involved. The things we've seen in pre-season, and worked on in pre-season, unfortunately didn't come out today. "I'm talking more without the ball than with the ball. We have to defend with a bit more conviction than we did. "It could have been a different occasion had the goal not been chalked off, which I thought was harsh, but today was all about us not showing enough conviction in our defensive work. We shouldn't be conceding the quality of chance we did. "At half-time, I felt there was a genuine belief that we could go on and win the game. We showed that, we scored straight away. The tempo was high. We kept recycling attacks and there was a little bit of a stage that they would manage the time well, and we made some forced errors and that just all breaks momentum. "We need to be cleaner at that position, and what you certainly can't do is concede any big chances against, especially when they're down to 10 men. That, we didn't do well enough. "We had enough openings, opportunities, and not enough good play around their box. We maybe didn't test the goalkeeper as much as we'd like, and then we just shot ourselves in the foot again with a really cheap third goal to concede. "The message to the players is, it's three points out of 138. That's all it is. If it affects your mentality, then it could be a negative. If we learn from it and implement that, then it could be a positive exercise there. If you look at it as 92 points needed to get promoted, you've got 46 to drop. Today we've dropped three."
Head Coach Marie Hourihan said: "It was a dominant first-half performance. I think the only disappointing thing for us is that we weren't going in at half-time three or four nil up. I think that clinical edge was something that we lacked a little bit today but, overall, I was delighted. "We had some key out-of-possession focuses which we were going after today, and I thought we executed them really well. "In terms of the whole game, we had a little bit of everything in what we had to face, but overall, I'm very pleased." Team: 1 Hermione Cull, 5 Giota Papaioannou (capt), 6 Layla Proctor, 7 Charlotte Whitmore, 8 Imy Crawford, 11 Roisin Kivel, 14 Trialist B, 16 Ella Stephens (26 Trialist E, 60), 17 Trialist C, 18 Trialist A (15 Georgie Knott, 86), 20 Trialist D (3 Roxy Thomas, 90+3).
