DARREN TALLON
Born: 01 June 1972
Came from: Trainee Went to: Dorchester Town
First game: 27 April 1991 Last game: 27 April 1991
Appearances: 1 (1/0) Goals: 0
The Plymouth-born central defender joined Argyle as an apprentice at the age of 16 and two years later David Kemp gave him his chance of first team action after an injury to Nicky Marker. Tallon started the game at Notts County in April 1991, but his debut turned to despair when he snapped a cruciate ligament – then a career-threatening injury. The match ended in a 4-0 defeat, and agony for Tallon.
Leaving Argyle, he spent several seasons with Dorchester Town before moving to Tiverton Town, for whom he played a commanding game and picked up a winners' medal in their 1999 FA Vase victory over Bedlington Terriers at the old Wembley Stadium, the club's second successive Vase win and their third Vase final that decade.
Despite that single first-team game for the Pilgrims, Tallon later featured regularly for the Argyle Legends fund-raising side. In February 2016 he then hit the headlines for the wrong reasons: with a co-conspirator he was found guilty of fraud and was given a custodial sentence.
