Opinel is a French defender who made one appearance for Argyle during a short trial period, but he was not offered a contract after failing to impress Paul Sturrock.
Having started his career with Cannes, he also played for Lille 2 (their second string side in the French lower leagues) and Ajaccio in France before a move to Raith Rovers in 1999. He was released after a year at the club and then joined Argyle. Following his short stay at Home Park he joined Leyton Orient and played regularly for three months but was not offered an extended contract having made 11 appearances and scored once.
He then dropped into non-league football and played for Billericay Town, Farnborough Town and Crawley Town (prior to their elevation to the Football League) before joining Ebbsfleet United, with whom he won the FA Trophy in 2007-08. He then returned to Farnborough and also played on loan for Eastbourne Borough and Burgess Hill Town, before winding down his career with Harlow Town in 2010-11.
Opinel is the cousin of Eric and Joel Cantona, who both played professional football in England - one with significantly more success than the other!
