Anthony enjoyed a brief spell with Argyle in 1997 but is probably more famous as being part of the Carlisle team that beat the Greens on the final day of the 1998-99 season, when the Cumbrians' goalkeeper Jimmy Glass scored in the final minute to keep Carlisle in the Football League. The midfielder began his career at Sheffield United and after a loan spell with Scarborough moved to Swindon Town. His move to Home Park followed, and then Carlisle before spending six seasons with non-league Barrow. He went on to play for Workington and Penrith.
