Green, Green Grass

(not to mention weeds)

13 Jun 2002

The last set of photos, back in March, showed the strange effect of a green substance sprayed over the earth banks surrounding the stadium. As you can see here, grass has taken root and the overall effect of the new stadium in Central Park (or at least, 3 sides) is now complete. Also shown here, the Pilgrim Way preparations have progressed, but no sign of the bricks yet. In the bottom row, the signs on the main entrance have been removed for a fresh coat of paint on the walls.

Like me, you may be wondering about the weeds amongst the grass. Some of these are real whoppers and do rather spoil the overall effect. I have to say as well that the litter, especially along the Lyndhurst side, is just a bit disappointing, especially as it has laid there for months without any attempt to clear it up. The last picture, showing one of the old Lyndhurst gates (which I am so pleased to see has been left in place) shows just a small amount of the debris. I just don't understand this, but let's hope that Colin Wheatcroft, the new Stadium Manager, will see his role in the widest sense. It would be such a pity if the new image of the club was spoilt by things that are so easy to sort out. Come on you Greens!

Thanks to the Club for giving access to Home Park, and Barr for their cooperation.
