The 1st Big Day

26 Dec 2001

OK, the result was disappointing, but that shouldn't detract from the real meaning of the day. December 26th, 2001 was of huge significance for the club, and after all the anticipation and excitement, for me it lived up to all expectations. The stands are perfect for a club of our size, the view was superb compared with the old terraces and the atmosphere was excellent. As long as we can achieve decent sized crowds, and when the Lyndhurst is open, this will truly be a theatre of greens. Congratulations to all at the club, especially as the day went so smoothly, but special thoughts go to John McNulty, who must have been so proud.

Waiting for the turnstiles to open ...

(1) all very quiet at the Barn Park End  (2) stewards' briefing (4) at the head of a Devonport End queue, our Keef (right)

The gates open, and in we go ...

Waiting for kick-off ...

(4) under a passing flag!  (6) the teams come out  (8) a roar goes up as the team huddles

The end of the game ....

(3) on the way out, a close-up of a new turnstile  (6-9) a 'snake' from the Barn Park End

Thanks to the Club for giving access to Home Park, and Barr for their cooperation
