Devonport End on the move

Much of the
effort over the last few days has focused on
the excavation of the Sleepers and
Devonport End, and the transport
of soil to extend the depth of the Barn Park End.
The
pictures below were taken this afternoon, firstly
at the Devonport End ....
... and on to the Barn Park End. Huge
earth movers trundle back and forth across the front of the Lyndhurst
to dump their loads
behind the former Barn Park boundary, to form the foundation of the
external concourse at that end. Notice that the Barn Park End is now
completely at pitch level, giving unprecedented views of Central Park
and Peverell from the inside, and a clear sight of the goalposts from
the old zoo field.
Concrete Cruncher
A fascinating beast crunches relentlessly at the
top of the old zoo. In one end, huge pieces for concrete terracing are
loaded into a hopper. From the other end, a steady stream of mixed
aggregate. Somehow it seems a very cruel end.
Thanks
to the Club for giving access to Home Park.
