YANNICK BOLASIE

Born: 24 May 1989
Came from: Floriana, Malta Went to: Bristol City
First game: 13 February 2010 Last game: 07 May 2011

The Lyon-born winger joined Argyle from Maltese club Floriana for a nominal fee following a successful trial. 'Yala' was a product of the Rushden & Diamonds youth system and also had a spell with Hillingdon Borough. Bolasie's father was a Congolese international and a cousin of Lomano Tresor LuaLua. Shortly after arriving at Home Park he joined his former club Rushden on loan but was recalled early to enable a similar move to Barnet. He was a great success during his three-month stay at Underhill and returned to the London club on a six-month loan at the start of the 2009-10 campaign.
Back at Argyle, Bolasie finally made his debut in February 2010, a game-changing performance at Barnsley. He continued to impress with his pace and industry on the left-wing during the remainder of the season and agreed a two-year contract extension. However, after Argyle were relegated to League Two in 2011 he was sold to Bristol City, where he was voted Young Player of the Year by the Supporters’ Club and Trust at the end of the following season. He submitted a transfer request in August 2012, expressing his desire to return closer to London, and later that month signed for Crystal Palace on a three-year deal. A firm fans' favourite, he won promotion in his debut season via the Championship play-offs (under Ian Holloway) and the Congolese international has since become an established Premier League performer with the Eagles.
