HASNEY ALJOFREE
Born: 11 July 1978
Came from: Dundee United Went to: Swindon Town
First game: 31 August 2002 Last game: 06 March 2007
Appearances: 127 (119/8) Goals: 5
Aljofree started his career as a trainee with Manchester United before a move to Bolton Wanderers in 1996. He made 22 first team appearances for Bolton in four years before being sold to Dundee United, who were managed at the time by Paul Sturrock. He re-joined Sturrock when he signed for Argyle in 2002, and was in and out of the side at left-back and centre-back over the next five seasons. After a brief period on loan at Sheffield Wednesday in 2004, again under Sturrock, he looked set to move permanently before injury cut short the loan. He eventually left Home Park to sign for Swindon Town, and Sturrock again, in 2007, and became club captain.
A serious knee injury eventually led to his release by Swindon in 2010, and Aljofree had to call it a day later that year at Oldham Athletic, a club where he had also spent time on loan. He stayed at the Latics to coach the youngsters, before joining Manchester United's academy, where he continued to carve out a burgeoning career as a respected youth coach.

From Andrew Chapman in Leeds on 25/10/2013 ...
Terribly clumsily and somewhat ignorantly he was once announced by the West Ham Tannoy announcer as 'Hasney Jalfrezi' - that made me both laugh and cringe. I think that was the day they tonked us 5-0 so the scoreline certainly didn't make me laugh. Good player though - would run through a wall for the club - and by the end of that West Ham game, in a numberless shirt and a bandaged head, he looked like he actually had!
