O'Sullivan was a Cypriot-born Irish under-21 international who spent two seasons with Argyle, winning the player of the season award in his final year. He began his career as a trainee with Swindon Town and made over 100 appearances in his four seasons with the club before moving on to Cardiff City. He was at Cardiff for two seasons and was virtually ever-present in the midfield before his switch to Home Park. Despite being offered a new contract following his impressive 2000-01 season, O'Sullivan chose to move to Australia, where he played for Parramatta Power, Northern Spirit, Geyland United and Central Coast Mariners.
