Etheridge was a prolific goalscorer in local football and joined Argyle from St Blazey in 1966. Despite a promising first season at Home Park he could not gain a regular place in the first-team and returned to non-league football with Weymouth. He went on to play for Falmouth Town for over 10 years, making nearly 300 appearances for the club.
