STUART ELLIOTT
Born: 27 August 1977
Came from: Darlington Went to: Carlisle United
First game: 10 March 2001 Last game: 01 May 2001
Appearances: 12 (11/1) Goals: 0
Born in Willesden, North London, Elliot started out as a youth with Arsenal before moving to Newcastle United and then spending most of his career and life in the North East.
Failing to make a first team appearance for United, he was loaned out repeatedly during his five years at the club, clocking up spells with Hull City, Swindon Town, Gillingham, Hartlepool United, Wrexham, Bournemouth and Stockport County before he was released.
He then signed for Darlington, where he played 33 times before making the long move to Home Park, as an early Paul Sturrock signing in March 2001. His debut came in a 3–0 home win over the Third Division leaders Chesterfield and he finished the season with 12 appearances but was not offered a longer contract.
He went on to play for an incredible 17 clubs: Carlisle United, Durham City, Scarborough, Exeter City, Merthyr Tydfil, Halifax Town, Harrogate Town, Harrow Borough, Waltham Forest, Gateshead, Northwich Victoria, York City, Grays Athletic, Durham City, Bedlington Terriers, Newcastle Benfield and Ashington.
Settling in the North East, Elliott was announced as manager of Northern League Division One club Newcastle Benfield in February 2019, where his contract was later extended to the end of the 2020–21 season.
