Came from: Morecambe Went to: Blackpool

Edwards became Derek Adams’ third summer signing of 2017, as he prepared for Argyle's return to the third tier. The Liverpool-born centre-back moved to Home Park after compensation was agreed with Morecambe, according to the under-24 transfer rules.
Edwards began his career at Blackburn Rovers, coming through their youth system and captaining the side that won the 2011–12 FA Youth Cup. Whilst at Ewood Park he had five loan spells: at Rochdale in the first half of the 2012-13 season (29 games), Fleetwood Town for a month later that season (9 games), Chesterfield for three months at the start of the following season (7 games), just one game for Tranmere Rovers later in the year and finally Morecambe in the last 6 weeks of the 2013-14 campaign (9 games). He then became one of 16 players released by Blackburn on his return to Ewood Park.
Having impressed during his loan spell at the Globe Arena, Edwards became a Shrimp on a full contract basis in May 2014. Over the next three seasons he added 127 games and three more goals to his Morecambe tally, and won the Supporters' Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year awards at the end of the 2016-17 season. The 23-year-old was naturally offered a new contract but he declined and instead chose Home Park.
Edwards impressed in the first half of his debut season and was a regular in the side, apart from three league absences as a result of two unlucky red cards. Just days after scoring the equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Doncaster in January 2018, an announcement came that he was suffering from testicular cancer. He underwent immediate surgery that sidelined him for the rest of the season.
Fully recovered, Edwards returned to the side at the start of the 2018-19 campaign and became a key figure at the heart of the defence, as well as scoring with some powerful headers at set pieces. He was offered a new contract at the end of the season, but chose instead to move back to the North West, signing for Blackpool on a two-year contract. However, his contract was cancelled by mutual consent in August 2020, allowing him to move north of the border to Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership.
