Bray joined Argyle on loan from Premier League Swansea City in the 2014-2015 early-season transfer window, ending a concerted effort by John Sheridan to bring a right-sided attacking player to the club. Born in Bath, he spent his youth career with Swindon Town but was released from the County Ground when he was 15. He was then picked up by the Swans' Academy and when he was loaned to Argyle, had spent four years at the Liberty Stadium, the latter two as a professional. Bray came to Sheridan's attention following Swansea's appearance at Home Park in a pre-season friendly in August 2014, when he was a 65th-minute substitute in the visitors' 4-0 win. The 19-year-old also featured in the Swans' two-game tour of America that summer; a win against Mexican Premier League side Chivas Guadalajara and a defeat to NASL outfit Minnesota United.
Although born in Bath, Bray also qualified to play for Wales and his form at Swansea earned him a call-up to their u19 squad. A hamstring injury prevented him from playing his part in a 3-0 win over Northern Ireland in 2013, but nearly a year later he was selected for a friendly against Montenegro and this time he made his debut, going on to play further games for Wales in the group stages of the 2014 UEFA European u19 Championship in Hungary.
Just five days into his expected four-month spell at Home Park, Bray made his senior football debut as a 58th minute substitute in Argyle's televised game at Luton. His opportunity came to an abrupt end just 12 minutes later after an injury to his knee. However, during that brief appearance, he was booked for an over-zealous tackle early on and played a role in setting up Dominic Blizzard's goal in a 0-1 win for Argyle - so he crammed a lot into his brief time in green! He returned to Swansea for a medical assessment and sad news soon followed: a serious ligament injury would require surgery and a likely six-month layoff.
So ended Bray's career at Home Park - probably the shortest in the club's history.
Having recovered from his knee injury, which included a brief substitute appearance for the Swans' under-21 side against Argyle at the sparsely-filled Liberty Stadium in an EFL Trophy group stage game, Bray joined Championship relegation strugglers Rotherham United on loan in January 2017, until the end of that season. The loan was made permanent in March for an undisclosed fee, with Bray signing a contract until the end of the 2018–19 season.
However, having failed to make a league appearance for Rotherham since November 2017, he joined League Two Forest Green Rovers on loan in January 2018 for the remainder of the 2017–18 season, going on to make 11 appearances, scoring once in all competitions.
The following season he was loaned out again, to National League North club York City in November 2018. As with his loan spell at Forest Green, he coincidentally also made 11 appearances, scoring once in all competitions before returning to Rotherham in January 2019.
In February 2019 he returned to the south west, joining National League South club Weston-super-Mare on loan until the end of the 2018–19 season making 10 appearances and scoring three times. On returning to Rotherham United at the end of the season, he was released when his contract was up, having made only 9 appearances without scoring, in all competitions, across three seasons with The Millers.
In May 2019, he signed a one-year deal with National League North Hereford (the phoenix club of the former Football League club Hereford United) for whom he appeared 14 times without scoring across all competitions, before moving to National League South Chippenham Town in February 2020. Having found a stable home, the 2023-24 season would be in his fifth season with the club as he approached a century of appearances for The Bluebirds.
