A midfielder with a quality left foot, he was promoted to the first-team squad after some impressive performances for the youth and reserve teams and made his debut as a substitute against Millwall in the League Cup in August 2011. He also helped the under-18 side win the 2011-12 Football League Youth Alliance South-West title. With his first-team opportunities limited and the club under financial restrictions, Copp was released in January 2013.
